Group Classes

Hotdiggity Dog winter classes are held in a riding arena (unheated).    Warm weather classes are held outdoors.

Hotdiggity Dog runs only one or two courses at a time.  Please keep watch on this page to find out which courses are coming up next.

If you are interested in taking one of our group classes please contact us.

Building the Bond

In order to train your dog,  he must trust you.  He must want to be with you, feel safe with you.  In this relationship-based obedience class, students will learn how to create that level of trust and build a bond that will last a lifetime. At the same time, students will put in place the foundation for two key skills: coming when called and walking on a loose leash.

Fee: 4 weeks - $125

Next session TBA

Classes will be held in Dunrobin.

Classes are 1 to 1-1/2 hours long.

Walking Well Clinic

Teaching a dog to walk on a loose leash can be a frustrating experience for many owners. Dogs like to pull to get to where they're going, without regard to the person on the other end of the leash who is being dragged unwillingly down the street. In this 3 week course, we help you train your dog to walk well, without pulling or lunging.

Fee: 3 weeks — $90

Next session TBA

Classes will be held in Carp

Moving On

This course, offered in the warm weather months, is for students who have completed a basic obedience course but need more experience walking their dog on a loose leash and dealing with the various social interactions of everyday life.

Pre-requisite:  Building the Bond

Fee: 4 weeks — $100

Next session TBA

Classes are held in various locations around Kanata and Carp.

Obedience for Agility Dogs

Dogs who participate in the great sport of agility need some extra skills. They need to be able to focus on the course they are running, keep an eye and ear on their handler, and respond immediately to any verbal or positional cue while blocking out all distractions. This course helps dogs develop those skills.

Fee: 4 weeks — $125

Next session TBA

Classes will be held in Fitzroy Harbour

     New!!  Agility Classes!

Hotdiggity Dog Training will now be offering Agility Classes.  Initially we are offering an "Introduction to Agility" which will teach both dogs and handlers basic obstacle performance and handling, as well as a "Communication and Confidence" course which will focus on having the dog and handler work as a happy and connected team on the agility field.

Introduction to Agility

Fee:  6 weeks -- $180

Session starts:  Sunday, April 21

Classes will be held in Fitzroy Harbour

Agility:  Handling

Guiding your dog around an agility course requires that you and your dog communicate clearly.  You work as a team, trusting each other to understand what is required to negotiate the course in the fastest and safest way possible.  With clear communication comes confidence.  And with confidence comes speed.  And with all of it comes Fun!

These 4-week Handling courses will be geared to the students in the class.  So if you  have taken some basic agility classes and your dog has been introduced to all the major equipment, then please contact us to discuss which of our classes would be a good fit for you.

Fee: 4 weeks -- $125

Session Starts:  Tuesday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m.

Classes will be held in Fitzroy Harbour

Recall Clinic

The Recall is the most important command you can teach your dog. It can save your dog's life. If your dog only comes most of the time and not all of the time, then you need to work on this command. This workshop, which is run in 3 phases for a total of 4-5 hours, will help you train your dog to want to come when called.

Fee: 4-5 hours — $125

Next session:  Saturday, April 13, 1:30-3:30 p.m.

                        Saturday, April 20 & 27, 1:30-2:30 p.m.
